Serie A starts with changes, innovations in the Italian football elite

The new Serie A season will kick off with some important rule changes. For the first time, referees will publicly explain VAR decisions in the stadium and in front of the cameras, increasing transparency.

Goalkeepers will only have 8 seconds to release the ball, otherwise a corner kick will be awarded to the opponent. Interrupted or unfinished matches will be played the next day, except in exceptional weather conditions.

In penalty kicks, the use of two consecutive kicks with the supporting leg is prohibited. Also, protests by players towards the referee will be immediately punished with a yellow card, even for captains.

The main objective of these changes is to speed up the game, increase fairness and spectacle for fans. Serie A aims to offer a more open, clear and understandable football to the public through these innovations.
