PD ceremony for Skanderbeg's birthday/Citadel: Kruja is without glory today

The Democratic Party held a commemorative ceremony today in Kruja on the birthday of the National Hero, Gjergj Kastrioti.

Also present at the ceremony was the head of the DP for the Kruja branch, Aulon Kalaja. In his speech, while praising the figure of Skanderbeg, Kalaja said that today Kruja is without glory. The head of the DP, Kruja, said that the city that took its name from the springs, today has no water.

Further in his speech, Kalaja stated that in October 2021, the city was poisoned after sewage and drinking water were mixed. An event he compared to the one that occurred in 1450, when the castle's wells were poisoned by the Turks.

 

" Today we commemorate the birthday of the most unifying figure of Albania. Kruja today is without glory. Kruja, which took its name from the springs, today has no water. In October 2021, the city was poisoned because the sewage was mixed with the white water. This event had happened in 1450 when the Ottomans poisoned the castle's wells with dead rats and in December 2014 when they arrested the heads of a palace for having connected illegal electricity.

This city has something magical, even though their stadium was robbed, that stadium was declared by FIFA 10 years ago as an extraordinary city to play football.

"Kruja gave Albania a prime minister, a signatory of the declaration of independence, Mustafa Merlika. Kruja gave it history and religion. The shame also belongs to us, the descendants of Kastrioti ," said Kalaja.
