"Opposition eclipsed by citizen protests"/ Hasimja: Parliament sliding

Political scientist Ermal Hasimja analyzed today the political situation in the country through parliamentary developments.

Invited to "A2 CNN", Hasimja shared the criticism that the Parliament is facing problems and that there is a slide towards some kind of malfunction.

According to the political scientist, another issue of concern is the situation of the opposition in the Assembly, which, as he said, is not fully performing all of its functions.

Hasimja added that one of the roles of the opposition, that of protest, has been eclipsed by citizen protests.

"The way the parliament currently functions is very problematic, with all the cases that we know and recognize. What we have seen from the parliament is that there is a slide towards a kind of malfunction. More and more, the opposition's space to speak is narrowing. It is becoming impossible for it to react and to carry out its functions. The parliament has turned into a kind of farce, as votes are held mechanically. The opposition has also had other problems. What it had as a public role through protests, has now been eclipsed by citizen protests," Hasimja said. /CNA
