Government meeting/ Agreement with Poland on social security ratified

Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, gave a statement to the media after the government meeting. Malaj announced that the agreement between Albania and Poland on social security was ratified at today's government meeting.

"In today's government meeting, the agreement between Albania and Poland on social security was ratified. This is the 21st agreement from the government's initiatives with countries where Albanians of the diaspora live. It is also the 10th agreement with EU countries. The government remains committed to continuing with the ratification of the necessary agreements in all those countries where there are Albanians ," said Malaj. 

Asked about the agreement with Greece, the minister said that negotiations are very intense due to the large number of Albanians living there.

"Regarding the talks with Greece, there are very intensive negotiations from the Albanian side, because the number of Albanians is high. There is a high intensity of negotiations and conditions that are being discussed," said Malaj.

The Minister was also asked about the forgiveness of tax and customs duties, where he said that the bylaws are being finalized, adding that all taxpayers who meet the criteria of the law will benefit.

"Regarding the bylaws, they are in the final phase. There was a period where we discussed with internationals the bylaws, just as we did for the laws. I believe that within May we will have closed the respective processes. As for the part of the cancellation of tax and customs duties, they will definitely be in line with those provided for in the law. The bylaws and instructions are more part of the clarification of the procedure and will definitely benefit all taxpayers who meet the criteria of the law on the forgiveness of duties ," he said. /CNA
