Balla meets the rapporteur for Albania, Schieder: Ambition to close negotiations

The Head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, met today at the European Parliament with the Rapporteur for Albania, Andreas Schieder.

As he announced through a post on social media, the focus of the meeting was the draft resolution document for Albania, which will be presented tomorrow at AFET, as part of the country's process on the path to integration.

"I met with the Rapporteur for Albania, Andreas Schieder, at the European Parliament. The Draft Resolution on Albania, which will be presented tomorrow in AFET, constitutes a clear, objective and encouraging recognition of our country's progress on the path of European integration.

The document appreciates the opening of all negotiation chapters within just 13 months, a record in the history of the European Union enlargement process, and appreciates the dynamic and substantive pace of the negotiations. It emphasizes Albania’s ambition to conclude the accession negotiations by 2027, reflecting Albania’s determination and serious preparation. The European Parliament also recognizes the concrete progress in strengthening democratic institutions, consolidating the rule of law, advancing socio-economic reforms, implementing environmental policies, deepening regional cooperation, and full alignment with the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. This assessment reconfirms that Albania is on the right track towards membership in the European Union, with seriousness, credibility and full commitment”, Balla writes. /CNA
