Elections in Kosovo/ Abdixhiku and Osmani at the conference: LDK achieved good

LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku and former president Vjosa Osmani have issued a statement to the media regarding the results of the elections held today in Kosovo.

Abdixhiku stated during his speech that there has been an increase in the number of voters for the LDK, while adding that this political force has secured 20 mandates.

He also stated that the loss of 200,000 votes by LVV shows that the people are seeking a different representation.

"Let me express my gratitude to the citizens of Kosovo. Kosovo spoke clearly today. A very special thank you to all those who contributed to ensuring that our citizens' will was respected. In just one month of campaigning, our number has reached 20 mandates. This is an increase that we consider to be 5 percentage points. This is not just a number, but a clear sign that this vision is receiving citizen support. With 20 mandates, the LDK has a very good future ahead. This is a task to move forward.

This was not an equal competition. We were faced with the propaganda of the government. We also saw pre-election abuses, interference and attempts to buy votes. In the face of all this, we followed a different path. We did not conduct a hate campaign, but a modern campaign. Today, our citizens gave a clear response. We also saw a clear rejection of this style of governance. The loss of 200 thousand votes by the ruling party shows that this people requires a different representation", said Abdixhiku.

Former President Vjosa Osmani added that, even though the campaign period was short, LDK recorded the largest increase in votes compared to any other political entity.

Osmani also commented on the low turnout in the elections, saying that citizens are tired of the numerous electoral processes and political crises in the country.

"I want to thank all the citizens for their support, who, despite the short time we had available for the campaign, increased the LDK by 5% more votes, the largest increase that any political entity has had. This is the first step towards resurgence. I believe that in the coming months this political force will continue this resurgence."

"The turnout was low and this is normal, given that citizens are tired of the numerous electoral processes and crises. Starting tomorrow, we will focus all our efforts on creating institutions, in order to bring Kosovo out of the crisis. The citizen has helped to rebalance the political scene. The time for resurgence has begun and there is nothing stopping it ," said Osmani.

So far, 97.64% of the votes have been counted, with LVV leading with 43.01%, or 293,710 votes. /CNA
