"2025, a historic year for the army"/ Rama: We are one of the

Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke about the Defense sector, stating that Albania currently has the best-paid army in the region, leaving even Serbia behind.

Rama stated that the increase in salaries for the army will continue, with the aim of reaching the average of NATO countries. He described this year as historic for the country's army because, according to him, the foundations of the "Made in Albania" defense industry have been laid.

"There are 721 new recruits who have joined the Armed Forces this year. We have the best-paid army in the region, including Serbia. We will continue to increase the salaries of the army. The goal is to reach the average of NATO armies. This coming year finds us with a missile system that we have in Albania, finds us with 3 patrol ships from Italy, with air surveillance radars.

Albania is a country that produces military capabilities not only for its own needs but also for export. This year is historic for our army because the foundations of the "Made in Albania" defense industry have been laid. We will finally produce uniforms and make it a reference point for other countries. We will produce armored vehicles and civil emergency vehicles. A series of vehicles are being produced, such as ambulances, police patrol vehicles. We will produce military drones and anti-drone systems. In 2026 you will see the first products. The increase in the defense budget is historic and this is known because we are part of NATO.

We have continued to put order in state properties. They accuse us of a state company that we have established for the state. We have established it for the state so that in any kind of approach from foreigners in Albania, the state will take its share. We have a series of investments throughout the country. Next year we will focus on establishing the aviation school in Vlora and the Armed Forces campus. We are working to increase the capacities of Civil Protection in all directions. We have also established the fund to purchase the first two firefighting aircraft", said Rama.

Rama also spoke about cyber attacks, saying that Albania is one of the countries with the highest cyber defense capacity.

"We are one of the countries with the highest cyber defense capacity. All institutions in Europe say so. We have received assessments for this. Albania, like any country, is attacked, but no attack has managed to penetrate the wall of our digital cyber structure ," Rama said. /CNA
