Elections in Kosovo/ Diplomat: Correct process, but excessive triumphalism after

Career diplomat Roland Bimo commented today on the election results in Kosovo.

Invited to A2 CNN, Bimo praised the electoral process as fair and in compliance with international standards, but criticized the excessive triumphalism following the results.

"It is a victory for the people of Kosovo for the way the elections were conducted and for meeting democratic standards. But to rejoice only because we know how to vote means setting the bar too low. After more than three decades of democracy, Kosovo should not be satisfied only with the correct conduct of the elections, while the use of terms like "historic" devalues ??the process. This sense of triumphalism and the use of the word historical is out of place. It was the electorate that resolved the impasse, as Kosovar politics was unable to agree on anything. The result and the electoral standard may mask the main problem of Albanian politics: the lack of compromise", - said Bimo./ CNA
