Sorry for Fatos Nano!

This in the photo is the house of my great-grandfather, Eqerem Zeqja in Tirana! A wonderful villa built with sweat and a lot of work, which was occupied by the communist invaders in 1948!!

On that fateful day, my late grandmother returned home and found some belongings and some furniture loaded into a truck, along with her family members, who were EXPELLED after the endless torture of our great-grandfather!!

In 1951, the Nano family settled there, and Fatos Nano was born there in 1952. Until the late 1990s, that house remained in their hands. When we tried to reclaim the property after the fall of communism, we were met with death threats, arrogance, and a bitter taunt: “Thank you for letting us into our house!”

This is the legacy of communism: looting, violence, deportations, and injustice that continue to weigh down generations. It pains my soul to see people today expressing pity for Nano, even those who call themselves oppositionists.

I have only one regret: that he and others like him never received the punishment they deserved for the communist past and for the smoothing of the transition that preserved the old structures under the guise of democracy. Today, their sons continue to lead us, while in October the dictator Hoxha is remembered again as a "historical figure."
