The dependent independents!

The special thing about this year's local by-elections is not the fact that the opposition will participate even though Ramaduro is in power; nor the fact that "with Rama there are no elections"; nor the other claim that "without free elections there are no elections!".

The special thing about these elections is that the opposition is not running with political candidates, but with "independent" candidates that it will "support"!

"Independents" who run in elections with a flag of independence, but with strings tied to the headquarters of some party, mainly people without identities, without biographies or with dubious political biographies, caricatures of worn-out politics who, with a pathetic "anti-party" rhetoric, try to hide the fact that they are the product of a mentality or even a party that no longer has power, identity, hope, or vision.

The DP, which once produced leaders, today produces "independents." Not because it believes in the individual, but because it no longer believes in itself, in the leading figures it has, in the impact and hope it should produce, and it doesn't even know how to hide the fact that it has become a shadow of itself.

The lack of structure, the crisis of trust and the permanent division have brought to the stage recycled figures who are sold as "new hope".
The truth is that none of them are truly independent, because they are dependent on names, interests or "winks" and have received the blessing, perhaps even the calculations, of a party that no longer dares to come out openly. And when someone is dependent on a party that is itself divided and without a compass, the result is known: a stylish collapse, before the race even begins.

Essentially, this is the newest formula for opposition FAILURE: finding people who have neither the strength nor the spirit to confront the government, nor the courage to separate from the party that manipulates them. A perfect farce to please the majority: The opposition pretends to compete, the "independents" pretend to win even when they lose; the government does what it does best: laugh and count!

The DP today cannot compete on its own, but it also does not know how not to compete. That is why it invents "independent", to justify itself as being part of the process, but without taking responsibility for the defeat. In fact, this is the most bitter version of political BETRAYAL: saying that you support them, and then leaving them alone on the ground, without structure, without logistics, without a voice in the media. A game that no one wins, except the government, which enjoys watching the opposition self-destruct.

The DP, instead of creating a real strategy for a dynamic political comeback, is sending these "independents" towards a path of no return. Because it will not give them real support, nor a structure to protect them, nor people on the ground. They have been left to enter the "competition" only to be consumed and remembered as insignificant notes in a political symphony that has long since ended.

Today's independents are like mannequins in a bankrupt store window; they look like people, but they have neither soul nor substance. And every "independent" who enters this race, no matter how sincere, becomes part of a scenario that further destroys the credibility of the opposition alternative.

Meanwhile, when the elections are over, the "independents" will return to where they came from: to the shelf of political oblivion.

However, it is not the fault of the "independents" who are dependent. It is the fault of a party that no longer has the nerve to fight, the ideas to win, the people to create, and the courage to challenge. That holds the opposition and the opposition hostage.

And a party that no longer has any ideas, candidates, or confidence: all it can do is produce illusions.
