6,000 Albanians disappeared during the dictatorship, await justice, Mr. Prime

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, in his podcast (because the media that he pays only for his propaganda is not enough) declared with crocodile tears that those killed in the January 21 protest are not resting in peace and demanded justice for their families.

Seeking justice for a state crime committed against those Albanians who have a different opinion, and do not want a single government, is more than normal, and I give all my moral civic support and the support of all former Political Prisoners and Persecuted, my fellow sufferers!

But to seek justice only for those who are militants of your party, and to remain silent towards those whose lives were taken by the former party that you inherit as Prime Minister, is political racism, which a Prime Minister is not allowed to do; on the contrary, it shows class hatred towards political opponents, for which the dictatorship killed and took the lives of over 6,000 Albanian citizens from all regions of the country.

As a political force, remaining silent for three decades, towards the bitter tragic crime that has befallen your nation with the loss of human lives of your compatriots, is unacceptable in a system where life is sacred, and makes you complicit with the executioners who commit these crimes.

Your silence as Prime Minister, in the face of the state genocide committed by the Albanian People's Liberation Army against 6,000 Albanian citizens who opposed the dictatorship, is an alarm bell for peace among Albanians. These inhumane crimes should shake the so-called democratic state and should raise awareness not only of the Prime Minister, the leader of the opposition, but of every Albanian who speaks Albanian.

Who were these Albanians who were shot in times of peace and not war? They had given the nation independence, had built the first Albanian state, were the first Albanian anti-fascists against the fascist occupation. They defended Jewish human lives, in the face of the exterminating machinery of Nazism, risking the lives of their families. With their humane deed, they placed the Albanian nation in the constellation of world honor! These luminaries of freedom and different thinking were killed so that Albania could be part of Europe, so that the country could have a democratic system, so that citizens could have their freedom and property.

These martyrs, Mr. Prime Minister, today do not have a grave and it is not known where their bodies are. Their lives were taken by the Stalinist ideology of the most infamous dictator that Europe has known since World War II, the criminal Enver Hoxha. That ideology that Europe condemned in 1956, unfortunately only Albania, which was ruled by a criminal Stalinist party, did not condemn.

And the political force that emerged in the '90s not only did not condemn this exterminating ideology, but on the contrary, it accepted to have as a fellow traveler in the pluralist system the party that committed these crimes.

The party that you lead, Mr. Prime Minister, changed its name in 1991 and called itself the Socialist Party, and you have led it for 20 years! These families who experienced bullets, suffering, and political prisons and were freed in the '90s, forgave Albania for not having bloodshed and hatred, but they asked your party to condemn these crimes.

You, as a political force, followed a wrong path that was not at all legal and humane and that did not serve national reconciliation. Under the guise of democracy, you chose to defend ideology and dictatorship on the path of pluralism. We bring to your attention three months ago, the proclamation of the President of the United States of America, who in the service of peace declared Anti-Communist Week in November 2025, which stated: “In the 34 years since the end of the Cold War, the world has witnessed both the triumph of democracy and the persistence of tyranny in new forms. New voices repeat the old lies, dressing them in the language of “social justice” and “democratic socialism,” but their message remains the same: “give up your freedom, put your trust in the power of government, and exchange the promise of well-being for the empty comfort of control.” America rejects this evil doctrine.”

Did Albania reject this evil doctrine? No. On the contrary, it continued to defend the dictatorship, hiding behind the lies of the communists' participation in World War II!

Albania remained silent towards the crimes of the dictatorship, the two political forces, the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party, "formally" declared themselves anti-dictatorship in the 1990s, but for three decades they did not condemn the dictatorship by law. And they chose to remain silent towards the macabre crimes of the party of dictator Enver Hoxha.

After 35 years, today "formal" democratic institutions have been built, but commanded by the party state. Today, elections are a monopoly of the party and not of the people. From a "democratic state that we thought we would build in the 90s," today we have turned into an ideological party state.

The values ??of individuals are determined by you as Prime Minister and not by the contribution of citizens to the nation. If you do not belong to your party and give your life for the nation, you cannot be called a patriot, but an enemy. Even the dictatorship, Mr. Prime Minister, held "formal" elections with 99% of voters, the same thing is happening now in our country. Two parties have seized the democratic system, turned it into a party system, and do not let it live or die.

If you have no connection with the dictatorship, your political opponent is not allowed to vote, let alone lead institutions. Today, justice is in the hands of the executive branch. Civil society, the media, if they do not serve the government will be penalized. Unions do not exist because there is no market economy, but a formal economy and no capital and businesses that serve the development of the country.

We have been waiting for justice for the disappeared for 35 years, it is your duty as Prime Minister and the opposition led by Dr. Berisha to condemn the crimes of communism, apologize and lead society towards national reconciliation. When justice acts equally, Albania will have freedom and peace!
