Mocking poverty!

Yesterday, Petrit Malaj, Minister of Finance, spoke in Parliament. A name that no one knew before and that no one will remember after he leaves office.

This is not his fault, but rather the fault of the deeply autocratic model of government where ministers have no political weight while the Sultan plays with them like bowls, swapping and exchanging them with each other.

The Minister presented the next normative act on the budget and said that every lek unspent by institutions will be transferred to the pension account and will support the needy.

This is an open mockery of the most vulnerable segments of Albanian society, who are not only not a priority for this government, but are treated with charity with the crumbs that remain after the budget is squandered.

First, we must ask the question: why does the state budget have a surplus that reaches 500 million euros?

Does the failure to realize investments in ministries, local governments, ARA, AKSH come as a direct consequence of the arrests of senior officials and the fear of their successors to sign deals disguised as capital investments?

Does Albania have the luxury of remaining with a budget surplus at a time when infrastructure and public services are at their weakest?

Do pensioners, families in need, and people with disabilities deserve to be treated like beggars and live below the subsistence minimum, with ridiculous social assistance?

This shows what the DP said at the beginning of the session.

The citizens, families in need, the roads, hospitals, and schools of this country are not a priority for this government.

The only and undisputed priority is corruption.

Massive extortion of the state budget, which is then translated into vote buying with the aim of extorting even more.

Albanians? They have to survive, treated like second-class citizens in their own home while government clients get fabulously rich.

It is time to end this sick system and restore dignity to every honest Albanian./ CNA
