Men or women/ Who lies more and better

Men are twice as likely as women to think of themselves as good liars and to believe that their lies will not be discovered, claims a "revealing" new study published in PLOS ONE.

People who excel at telling lies are good talkers and lie more often to family and partners, according to a study led by Dr. Brianna Verigin from the University of Portsmouth.

It also turns out that master liars prefer to tell their lies face-to-face rather than through texting or other forms of communication.

"Previous research has shown that most people tell one or two lies a day, but that's not accurate. It is a small number of… professional liars who are responsible for most of the lies. What stood out in our study is that almost half (40%) of all lies are told by a very small number of people who openly lie to even the closest people. Prominent liars rely heavily on fine speech, cloaking their lies with the truth so that others have a hard time telling the difference. Their strong point, in fact, is to integrate lies into seemingly simple, clear stories, which are hardly contradicted by their interlocutors," says Dr. Verigjin./ Adapted from CNA.al
