Lisbon is crowned as the most economical city of 2023

The Portuguese capital Lisbon has been chosen as the most affordable city of the year in Europe for holidays.

The annual travel survey also found that Vilnius, Lithuania, Krakow in Poland and Athens, Greece ranked second, third and fourth respectively, reports SchengenVisaInfo.com .

This analysis, which was conducted in 35 European cities, is based on money spent on 12 tourism activities, including sightseeing trips, a two-night stay in any three-star hotel, a dinner for two and transport within the city.

With a winning bid of £225 (INR 23,095), Lisbon, the pedestrian's paradise, took home the prestigious title. In this regard, the survey provided by ABTA has examined some of the most popular tourist attractions to visit in Lisbon

- St. George's Castle is one of the main points in Lisbon. Perched on top of a hill, this historic castle plays an important role in Lisbon's history, being a stronghold for the Phoenicians, Romans and others.

-Belem Tower : Known for its stunning architectural design, Belem Tower stands as an important landmark in Lisbon. UNESCO has further recognized its importance by designating it as a World Heritage Site.

-Jeronimos Monastery: This is another must-visit place in Lisbon. Jeronimos Monastery, with its large and beautiful garden, attracts many visitors every day.

-The Lisbon Oceanarium is also known as the main destination to visit at night. It is also the largest indoor aquarium in Europe.

-The National Museum of Ancient Art is another popular site in Lisbon. For all art lovers, it is a great place to visit, considering that they can see more than 40,000 works of art from all over the world.

Moreover, last year's prices in Lisbon witnessed only a slight increase of two percent. This means that it is apparently a smaller increase compared to what some cities have experienced. It came out ahead of Vilnius by a very small margin, outperforming all Eastern European cities. In addition, last year Athens was ranked first, while this year in fourth place.

As for the most expensive European countries for this year, Amsterdam (Netherlands), Venice (Italy), Paris (France), Dublin (Ireland) and Copenhagen (Denmark) are listed./ CNA.al
