Break the record/ The kitchen cooks for almost 100 hours

Hilda Bachi has been cooking since last Thursday, breaking the Guinness World Record of 87 hours and 45 minutes held in 2019 by Lata Thodon, an Indian chef.

A Nigerian chef has broken the record for consecutive hours of cooking and is now aiming for 100 hours.

Hilda Bachi has been cooking since last Thursday, breaking the Guinness World Record of 87 hours and 45 minutes held in 2019 by Lata Thodon, an Indian chef. From 15:00 on Thursday Greek time, he started cooking dozens of delicious local foods, from soups to stews. Jollof rice, one of West Africa's most iconic dishes, was also on the menu.

As of noon Monday, she was continuing her efforts, reaching 97 hours. Many present during her attempt and also from the internet cheered her on to reach 100 hours. Bachi only took five minutes of rest every hour, or cumulatively one hour after a 12-hour period.

No representative from Guinness World Records was in Nigeria, but the organization tweeted that it was aware of the chef's attempt to break the record. "We must first review all the evidence before officially confirming a record," he said.

In a bid to break the record, the Nigerian chef said on Thursday that she wanted to show how hardworking and determined young Nigerians are.

After breaking the record, President Muhammadu Buhari tweeted that Monday was a great day for Nigeria.

"Hilda's drive, ambition and persistence brought great interest and knowledge to the uniqueness of Nigerian food," Buhari said./CNA.al
