On Tuesday, the Court of Lezha sentenced Besnik Pjetri (Përdeda), who in August 2022 killed his ex-father-in-law and brother of his ex-wife in the village of Grykë Zeze in Lezha, to life imprisonment. Pjetri was found guilty of the crime of murder and possession of a weapon without a permit.

Besnik Pjetri was the father of two daughters and had been divorced from his wife for 6 years. He did not agree with this separation and constantly argued with his ex-father-in-law on this issue.

On August 29, 2022, he learned that they had returned from Italy, where they had lived for 20 years, and went to their apartment, shooting them with a machine gun and leaving them dead.

The author and his ex-wife lived in Italy, after the divorce they stayed in EU countries and recently returned to Albania.

It is known that his ex-wife had denounced him for violence in Italy, where he served another 2 years in prison./ CNA
