They tried to steal a vehicle in Dhërmi/ Two young men in handcuffs

Two young men have been arrested by the Himara Police after they attempted to steal a vehicle in Dhërmi. A 25-year-old and a 17-year-old, accomplices in this criminal activity, have been arrested. Meanwhile, two vehicles have been seized, one belonging to the perpetrators and the other to the one they attempted to steal.

According to the police report, on 30.04.2026, in the evening, the two young men had gone to Dhërmi in a “Benz” vehicle, initially with the intention of purchasing a “Land Rover” vehicle, used by a citizen residing in Tirana. Taking advantage of the owner’s absence, the 17-year-old had started the vehicle and left without his permission.

The investigation also revealed that the 17-year-old, who had taken the "Land Rover" vehicle, had collaborated with the 25-year-old, who was caught in the "Kushtrimi" neighborhood in Vlora, while he had crashed the vehicle he had used to go to Dhërmi in Palasa and abandoned it.

Police services, after receiving a report that a "Land Rover" vehicle had been stolen in Dhërmi, organized the work, where thanks to the quick response, they were able to locate and stop the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle did not obey the police order and, during the maneuvers to leave, caused damage to the stolen vehicle.

At the end of the actions, citizen N. Xh., 25 years old, resident of Durrës, was arrested for the criminal offenses: “Attempted Theft”, committed in collaboration, “Disobedience to a Police Order” and “Leaving the Scene of an Accident”, while the 17-year-old was arrested for the criminal offenses: “Attempted Theft”, committed in collaboration, “Irregular Driving”, “Destruction of Property” and “Disobedience to a Police Order”.
