The security measure "arrest with imprisonment" has been executed for three people under investigation for smuggling narcotics into the Elbasan prison.

According to the announcement of the Internal Control Service in the Prison System, an employee at the Elbasan prison, a family member of a detainee, and a detainee have been placed in handcuffs.

From the investigation conducted using special methods, a collaboration scheme was discovered to introduce narcotics into the institution for the purpose of financial gain.

The Internal Control Service in the Prison System (ICSS), after an in-depth investigation lasting several months conducted under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan, has successfully finalized an operation against criminal activity in the Elbasan Penitentiary Institution.

In implementation of the execution order dated 22.01.2026, based on decision no. 784, dated 19.12.2025, the measure "Arrest in prison" was executed against three persons under investigation:

NK, police officer at the Elbasan Prison

EK, family member of a pre-detainee

GS, detained at the Elbasan Penitentiary Institution

The investigation, conducted using special methods, revealed a collaborative scheme to introduce narcotics into the institution for financial gain. The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
