The Central Election Commission has announced that the process of registering voters outside Kosovo for the June 7 elections is continuing, while the interest of the diaspora remains high since the opening of applications on May 6. The spokesperson for the CEC in Kosovo, Valmir Elezi, stated that as of Sunday, May 10, a total of 36,154 requests for registration of voters outside the country have been received through the electronic platform.

According to him, so far 25,376 applications have been approved, 2,961 have been rejected, while another 7,797 remain pending review. Before the start of registration, the CEC has approved the list of voting centers in diplomatic missions and has determined the maximum number of voters who can register for physical voting abroad.

According to the decision of the electoral institution, voting will be organized in 48 diplomatic missions, namely in 33 embassies and 15 consulates, with a total of 70 polling stations. The maximum number of voters who can register for physical voting is 66,450.

The CEC has clarified that this restriction only applies to physical voting at diplomatic missions, while registration for voting by mail remains without numerical limitation. In the event that the maximum capacity at a diplomatic mission is reached, applicants will be directed to other forms of voting by mail.

The electoral institution has also announced that, as in the last local and parliamentary elections, voters registered to vote by mail will be sent a package with a ballot to their addresses. Voting at diplomatic missions will be held on June 6, 2026, one day before the elections in Kosovo. The voting process will take place from 07:00 to 19:00, according to the local time of the respective country. Meanwhile, voting by mail will start on May 25 and will last until June 6. /CNA
