Iran has warned Britain and France that its armed forces will give "a decisive and immediate response" to any warship sent to the Strait of Hormuz.
"We remind you that, both in times of war and peace, only the Islamic Republic of Iran can guarantee security in this strait and will not allow any country to interfere in such matters ," Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on social media.
The warning came as Paris and London have sent ships to the region and are leading efforts to create an international coalition aimed at securing the Strait of Hormuz following a peace deal between the US and Iran. Italy is also involved in the operation. /CNA
