Trump and Erdogan, "head-to-head" meeting/ "We will reach

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived at the White House for a meeting with President Donald Trump.

As President Erdogan and Trump prepared to enter the White House, one of the reporters asked: Will the US sell Turkey the F-35 jets it wants?

"We'll find out," Trump replied.

President Donald Trump said they would talk about trade and military aircraft, while emphasizing that US relations with Turkey have long been very good.

On the other hand, Erdogan stated that Trump and he could take Turkey-US relations to a much different level.

He adds that the two leaders have an opportunity to discuss the F35 and F16 fighter jets during this meeting.

Among other things, Trump has stated that he would like to see Turkey, a NATO member, stop buying oil from Russia, saying that the war has already cost millions of lives.

"And for what? Shame," Trump declared.

He says it's "shameful" what Russia is doing and that Putin "must be stopped."

Trump then stated that he and Erdogan would hold discussions and reach some great trade deals for both countries.

Asked by a reporter whether Trump would "undo" what he called the Biden administration's "stupid decisions" not to sell Patriot missiles to Turkey, the US president replies: "We'll discuss that."

"I think he's going to be successful in buying the things he wants to buy," Trump says of Erdogan, referring to F-35 and F-16 fighter jets.

"He needs certain things and I need certain things," the president continues, "and we will come to a conclusion."/ CNA
