Air transport strike on Friday/ Flight disruptions begin in Italy

Airline passengers in Italy should prepare for disruption this Friday, September 26, as national strikes are likely to affect weekend travel plans.

CUB Trasporti and USB, two of Italy's largest unions, have called strikes in a dispute over pay and working conditions. The 24-hour strike will include airline crews as well as airport staff, with Milan's Linate and Malpensa airports expected to be among the hardest hit.

Baggage workers employed by Assohandlers will go on strike from 10am to 2pm, while drivers at Milan airports will strike for the entire day. Security staff at Sardinia's Cagliari Elmas Airport are also joining the action throughout the day.

Meanwhile, pilots and cabin crew from low-cost carriers are also holding a 24-hour strike, citing low wages and poor working conditions./ CNA
