Nobel Peace Prize/ Could President Donald Trump win it?

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday, and US President Donald Trump could be one of the contenders.

The American president, who is serving his second term, has commented on the Nobel Prize many times for years, starting in his first term in office, when he said that many people thought he deserved it.

Trump has suggested on several occasions that he has played a key role in stopping numerous wars.

"I've fought six wars, I've ended six wars. If you look at the six agreements I've made this year, they were all on war. I didn't make any ceasefires," Trump said on August 18, during his summit with Ukrainian and European leaders.

Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize more than 10 times, by Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, a Ukrainian politician, as well as lawmakers from the US, Sweden and Norway.

Price expert and director of the Oslo Peace Research Institute, Nina Graeger, has suggested that successfully pressuring Russia to end the war in Ukraine or Israel to stop its war in Gaza would make President Trump a likely candidate. /CNA
