China officially unveils world's highest bridge

China has officially unveiled the new Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the world's highest. The project, which was completed in less than 4 years, is not only an engineering feat, but is also becoming a major tourist destination.

The Huajiang Bridge offers panoramic views of one of China's most spectacular landscapes, the so-called "earth fissure", a large natural canyon in Guizhou province.

Beyond the symbolism of technological superiority, the bridge reduces the duration of a journey that required two hours to just two minutes, significantly facilitating the movement of people and goods in an area known for its difficult terrain.

However, the project is not limited to functionality. At the top, at an altitude of 2,600 meters, there is a restaurant with panoramic views, while the entire bridge is designed as a theme park. Visitors can walk on a glass walkway or use a transparent high-speed elevator. 

Technical characteristics

The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is a suspension bridge with a total length of 2,890 meters. Its metal girders weigh 22,000 tons - almost as much as three Eiffel Towers - and its design is based on advanced materials for strength and aerodynamic stability, allowing it to be used even in extreme weather conditions./CNA
