"We'll make it in the Middle East"/ Trump: I think we have a deal on Gaza

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that there is a real chance for greatness in the Middle East.

"We have a real chance for GREATNESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST. WE ARE ALL ON BOARD FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. WE WILL FINISH IT!!!", Trump wrote on the "Truth Social" network.

Earlier on Friday, Trump told reporters in Washington that he thinks he has a deal on Gaza.

That same day, addressing the United Nations, Netanyahu vowed to block the creation of a Palestinian state, while also vowing to finish the job against Hamas, days after Britain, France and other Western powers recognized the state of Palestine.

Hamas carried out its worst-ever attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,219 people, mostly civilians, according to Israeli data.

Palestinian militants also took 251 hostages, of whom 47 remain in Gaza, including 25 who the Israeli military says are dead.

Israel's retaliatory offensive has killed more than 65,549 Palestinians, also mostly civilians, according to Gaza's health ministry. /CNA
