Day of talks in Beijing/ Xi Jinping and Putin hold discussions on China-Russia ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin continued a day of talks in Beijing on Tuesday, walking together outside Xi's residence after a tea ceremony.

Earlier, the two leaders held formal discussions where Putin, addressing Xi as a "dear friend," said ties between Moscow and Beijing were at an unprecedented level.

Putin stressed the importance of shared history, recalling their peoples' alliance during wartime and promising continued cooperation.

Xi also hosted a trilateral meeting with Putin and Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, where Putin stressed that their countries are good neighbors bound by friendship.

The three will take part in Wednesday's parade in the Chinese capital, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, accompanied by foreign leaders./CNA
