Putin visits Beijing/participates in military parade

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have begun bilateral talks in Beijing, ahead of a massive military parade in the Chinese capital.

During his visit to China, Putin praised official relations with Beijing, saying they were at an unprecedented level, as part of the communication strategy between the two countries.

"Dear friend, I and the entire Russian delegation are pleased to meet again with our Chinese friends and colleagues. Our close communication reflects the strategic nature of Russia-China relations, which are at an unprecedented level. We were always together then and we remain so now," Putin said to the Chinese leader.

Xi told Putin that China-Russia relations have stood the test of international change and that Beijing was willing to work with Moscow to build a more just and reasonable global governance system.

Xi will stage China's largest military parade ever on Wednesday, marking the 80th anniversary of the Japanese surrender to China at the end of World War II, a move that will help Beijing showcase its diplomacy and military might.
