Agreement reached between Israel and Hamas/ Guterres: I welcome the announcement, the suffering must end

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has reacted to the agreement reached between Israel and Hamas under Trump's plan.

Guterres says he welcomes the agreement and that the suffering must end.

The UN chief calls on the parties to seize this opportunity and create a credible path towards ending the occupation by recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

" I welcome the announcement of the agreement reached for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages, based on the proposal presented by President Donald Trump.

The suffering must end.

"I call on all stakeholders to seize this important opportunity to forge a credible political path towards ending the occupation, recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, and achieving a two-state solution that will enable Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security, " Guterres said.
