International meeting in Palermo/ Klodjan Braho: The fight against crime should

The Head of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, Klodjan Braho, participated in the international meeting held in Palermo, Italy, on the topic "International legal cooperation and integration processes of transnational criminal organizations: analysis and work perspectives".

The event was held at the Palace of Justice, in memory of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. It was attended by leaders and representatives of prosecutors' offices and justice institutions from countries in Europe, the Western Balkans and Latin America.

During his speech, Braho outlined SPAK's approach to the challenges posed today by transnational organized crime, which increasingly operates through cross-border networks, capable of adapting to technological, financial and logistical developments.

He stressed the importance of an investigative approach that aims to understand the entire chain of criminal activity: from the source and organization of criminal activity, to international connections, financial mechanisms, laundering of the proceeds of crime and the final destinations of illicit profits.

Meanwhile, special attention was paid to the manner in which the phenomenon of organized crime is publicly addressed, emphasizing the need to avoid generalizations based on nationality, language or social affiliation.

It was underlined that the fight against organized crime should focus on individuals, structures and concrete criminal networks, based on evidence, professional analysis and cooperation between law enforcement authorities.

SPAK believes that confronting transnational organized crime requires proactive and financial investigations, rapid information exchange and sustained cooperation with international counterpart authorities. In this regard, the Special Prosecution Office remains a serious, reliable and active partner for international cooperation in the fight against organized crime and corruption. /CNA
