SPAK "filters" Balluk's relatives, checks businesses and homes

The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has intensified investigations into former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, ordering a new wave of inspections.

According to reports, around 15 searches have been authorized, which include not only people close to her, but also other individuals who are suspected of being related to the case.

The focus is also on asset verification, where several family members, including her brother, have passed through the SPAK "filter".

Among the inspections carried out, a residence owned by a relative of Balluk, Mired Reci, as well as other entities related to the economic activity of the persons under investigation, is also mentioned.

Reci, it turns out, was a partner with 49% of the shares in two companies: “XL MARKET” shpk and “Hippo Tregu Elektrik” shpk. The other partner is Meland Qirko, brother-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister Balluku.

Some of them turn out to have participation in commercial companies, which is being analyzed by investigators to understand the source of income and possible financial connections.

During the searches, cell phones and documents relevant to the case were seized. 

These actions are considered a continuation of operations launched at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026.

The investigation is related to suspicions of abuses in large-value tenders, while SPAK is expected to further deepen the verifications in the coming days./ CNA
