The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Niko Peleshi, is conducting an official visit to Ireland, as part of a parliamentary diplomacy tour, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and supporting Albania's European integration process.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, was received in a meeting by the Speaker of the Irish Parliament, Verona Murphy, where the very good relations between the two countries were appreciated and the importance of intensifying parliamentary cooperation was emphasized as a key instrument for strengthening political dialogue and rapprochement between the two countries.

During the conversation, President Peleshi expressed gratitude for Ireland's continued support for the European Union's enlargement policy and Albania's integration, underlining the country's concrete progress in the framework of reforms, particularly in strengthening the rule of law and democratic institutions.

Pointing out the European roots, vision and values ??of Albanians, President Peleshi underlined that EU membership enjoys very broad popular support and a political and parliamentary consensus.

During the meeting, the importance of Ireland's role in the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which Ireland will assume in July 2026, was emphasized as a key moment for advancing the enlargement process and supporting the Western Balkan countries on their path towards EU membership.

The parties also discussed expanding cooperation in areas of common interest such as economy, tourism, energy, innovation and education, as well as the role of the Albanian diaspora in strengthening cultural and social ties between the two countries.

The visit of the Speaker of the Parliament to Ireland is part of a broader commitment to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and increase international support for Albania on its European path.

Special attention was paid to strengthening cooperation between the Assembly and the Parliament of Ireland, within the framework of the accession process.
