The Minister of State for Public Administration and Anticorruption, Adea Pirdeni, reacted to the news that the working hours will be shortened due to high temperatures.

Pirdeni states that the reduction is not related to temperatures, but to the demand for a flexible schedule.

Thus, the shortening of the daily working hours seems to become a reality for the administration in Albania, and the aim is to steadily inject flexibility at work.

The draft decision proposes that within the daily duration of work, employees have the opportunity to choose the times when they will complete the full hours of the working day, setting a time band when all employees must be at work.

It is specifically proposed that in state administration institutions:

• The daily duration of working hours should be 8 hours and 30 minutes from Monday to Thursday and 6 hours on Friday.

• The daily work schedule should be flexible, provided that full hours are completed (ie 8.5 hours and 6 hours).

• The mandatory time slot when all employees must be at their workplaces, should be every day from 9:30 to 15:30, while on Friday from 9:30 to 13:00./ CNA
