In the municipality of Himara, the project "Water supply of rural areas IV" is being implemented, which aims to improve the infrastructure of water supply and sewerage.

The project envisages the systematization, collection and treatment of polluted water, including the improvement of management capacities.

In addition to the construction of the plant, part of the project is also the laying of the sewage network of dirty water, about 15 kilometers, in the city of Himara and in the village of Himara, together with the connections through houses and wells, which through several pumping stations will to accumulate in the plant which is in the construction phase.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, the Prefect of the Vlorë district, Vangjel Tavo, as well as the leaders of the ADF and AKUK, Dritan Agolli and Klevis Jahaj closely followed the progress of works for the construction of the wastewater treatment plant.

"One of the most important construction sites in terms of waste water management and is part of 'Program IV' which is followed by ADF in this area and includes a series of projects starting from the distribution of drinking water and up to the management of water polluted".

This is how Balluku described the project that is being realized in the municipality of Himara.

It will cover all the commercial entities that are part of the coast, as well as 80% of the volume of individual dwellings.

Balluku said that the program being implemented foresees intervention in other areas along the coast.

"A very good job will be done with the completion of lot 3 of the "Program IV". We will continue as it is said that the whole of the south will be treated. "Program IV" is a complex program. It is anticipated that there will be interference in other areas as well, such as the part of Orikum, the part of Dukat, for which we must already be prepared for another development due to the tunnel", said the minister.

In the first phase, the capacity of the plant is for 16 thousand inhabitants, while in the second phase it goes up to 24 thousand inhabitants.

Minister Mirela Kumbaro emphasized that this infrastructure corresponds not only to the current capacities, but also to the development that the area is expected to have in the future.

"The infrastructure that is being built today does not end there, but it has provided for the project and for the continuation, taking into account the projection of the increase in the number of hotels. In the National Council of the Territory, we continue to receive proposals from private investors to add accommodation units, which means that the projection of other lots in the future will respond to that trend", said Kumbaro./ CNA
