The Minister of Finance, Ervin Mete, was today at the meeting of the Committee for Legal Affairs, Administration and Human Rights, as well as at the meeting of the Committee for European Affairs during the review of the draft law "On some changes in law no. 61/2012, For excise duties in the Republic of Albania', amended".

In his speech, the minister explained that the purpose of the draft law is closely related to a defined process, which is to remove the concessionaire of excise stamps from the law and emphasize that this is now a state monopoly, i.e. the production and distribution of stamps and will to be carried out by a public legal entity authorized by the Council of Ministers.

By order of the Minister of Finance, a wide working group was set up, years in December, which is following the procedures of concluding the concession of fiscal stamps. The concession ends on December 31 of this year, and then the production and distribution of stamps by the Securities Printing Office will continue, the minister emphasized.

Since the concessionaire was mentioned in a number of articles of the law and it was foreseen that this process would be done by the concessionaire and this was in the law, the law is coming for changes. The minister stated that this was a constitutional concession and our position is that it will have to be offered at lower costs in the future./ CNA
