Cryptocurrencies/ Dumani: We have seized digital wallets of considerable value

The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, in his report to the Assembly on the activities of 2024, spoke about money laundering and cryptocurrencies.

Dumani said that for 2024, there has been a significant increase in criminal proceedings for money laundering and announced that criminal proceedings have been initiated for this offense in construction and tourism.

Further, the head of SPAK said that regarding cryptocurrencies, there are findings that members of a criminal group used them to buy narcotics. Dumani stated that in cooperation with partner agencies, digital wallets of considerable value have been seized.

" Significant increase in criminal proceedings for money laundering. We have launched investigations into money laundering in construction and tourism, hotels. We have confiscated, some are in the process of confiscating.

"As for cryptocurrencies, we have had investigations, we have found that members of a criminal organization were using crypto to buy narcotics. It is a very difficult process to track, identify and confiscate them. We have been helped by partner agencies. We have managed to seize these digital wallets in considerable values ," Dumani declared.
