Incinerator affair/ Dumani on Veliaj's investigation: Preliminary

The Head of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, in his report to the Parliament on the activities of 2024, was also asked about the incinerator affair.

Dumani said that for the three incinerators, SPAK has investigated 71 people of all levels. Focusing on the qualification of the incinerators as a criminal group, Dumani stated that all investigative phases have considered the legal qualification as correct.

Asked why former mayor Veliaj has not been charged in this affair, Dumani said that the preliminary investigations have not yet been completed, but are continuing.

" SPAK has investigated 71 people of all levels. Some are on trial and other people who may be responsible for this criminal activity are being investigated. Regarding the Elbasan and Fier incinerators, they have passed all investigative phases and have found the legal qualification of cooperation made by the Special Prosecution to be correct.

"The preliminary investigations have not been completed but are still ongoing ," Dumani said.

 

The head of SPAK was also asked about Arben Ahmetaj, to whom he said that if he wants to cooperate with SPAK, he is welcome.

 

" Ahmetaj's public statements are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Today, for us, he is an internationally wanted person. If he wants to cooperate with the Special Prosecution Office, he is more than welcome ," Dumani declared.
