Meeting in Bucharest/ Balluku reveals plan for creating energy axis with 4

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku was present at the annual High-Level Meeting of Energy Ministers of Central and Southeastern Europe, chaired by Commissioner Dan Jorgensen.

In a statement to the media, Balluku stated that all ministers have reported on the energy situation of the respective regions, preparations for the 2025-2026 winter and, above all, energy security, even under the perspective of the threat posed by the use of Russian gas.

Balluku announced that for the first time, the 8-month report for 2025 shows that 10% of generating capacity has been created from solar sources, thus bringing the total domestic production ratio to 90% hydro and 10% solar energy.

He also revealed that there was a bilateral meeting with the Romanian Minister of Energy where a plan for the creation of an energy axis was discussed, including Albania, Romania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Italy.

“The Energy Ministers of Central and South-Eastern Europe gathered today in Bucharest for the annual High-Level Meeting, chaired by the European Commissioner for Energy, Dan Jørgensen, under the hospitality of the Romanian Government, in particular the Minister of Energy, Ivan.

All ministers reported on the energy situation of the respective regions, preparations for the 2025-2026 winter, and above all, energy security, even in light of the threat posed by the use of Russian gas.

I took the opportunity to share at this event an important achievement of Albania this year, based on the national strategy for diversification. For the first time, the 8-month report for 2025 shows that we have managed to create 10% of generating capacities from solar sources, thus bringing the total domestic production ratio to 90% hydro and 10% solar energy.

During the day, I had the pleasure of meeting and discussing with many of the colleagues who were present and also with Commissioner Jorgensen, but I want to highlight the bilateral meeting with the Romanian Minister of Energy where we discussed the conception of a plan for the creation of an energy axis, which includes Albania, Romania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Italy.

"Broad regional cooperation has shown that it is and will be the basis for guaranteed success for European energy security," said Balluku./ CNA
