Today, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the decision was made to dismiss the prefect of the Vlora and Fier districts.

In the Vlora district, Evis Allushi has been appointed instead of Plator Nesturi, while in the Fier district, Anduel Xhindi has been appointed instead of Arben Çuko.

These are just the first two moves after Prime Minister Edi Rama announced, both in the Socialist Party Assembly and in other public appearances, that there will be many dismissals.

After the release of the prefects of Vlora and Fier, other prefects of the regions are expected to be changed.

"The functioning of prefectures and the dimension of local government in internal affairs, if you look at the reality, is very lacking, and prefectures today are institutions that have lost their weight and meaning, and we need a reform for prefectures, which will of course be jointly led by the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Power, who decides. We need to draw a conclusion whether we need them or not, and if we need them, what should we regulate and not have them be like nests that distribute salaries and whose impact on internal affairs is close to zero," Rama said in one of his public appearances./ CNA
