VKM/ Government increases security for the chairmen of GJKKO, SPAK and BKH

The Council of Ministers approved at today's meeting the decision on personal protection for the head of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, the Special Prosecution Office and the head of the National Bureau of Investigation.

The decision of the Council of Ministers states that their protection is provided through the escort of basic-level bodyguards and mid-level bodyguards during the duration of the mandate and for a period of no more than 2 years after its end.

The personal protection of the head of the Special Prosecution Office is guaranteed through the presence of a basic-level bodyguard and a mid-level bodyguard during the duration of the mandate and for a period not exceeding 3 (three) years after its termination.

ON

AN AMENDMENT TO DECISION NO. 478, DATED 10.7.2019, OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS, “ON THE SECURITY PROCEDURE OF JUDGES OF COURTS AGAINST CORRUPTION AND ORGANIZED CRIME, PROSECUTORS OF THE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE AND THE DIRECTOR OF THE NATIONAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, AMENDED”

In accordance with Article 100 of the Constitution and point 4, Article 47, of Law No. 95/2016, “On the organization and functioning of institutions to combat corruption and organized crime”, as amended, upon the proposal of the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Council of Ministers

DECIDED:

1. Point 3 of decision no. 478, dated 10.7.2019, of the Council of Ministers, “On the security procedure for judges of courts against corruption and organized crime, prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office and the director of the National Bureau of Investigation”, is amended as follows:

“3. The personal protection of the presidents of courts against corruption and organized crime and the director of the National Bureau of Investigation is guaranteed through the escort of a basic-level bodyguard and a mid-level bodyguard during the duration of the mandate and for a period not exceeding 2 (two) years after its termination. The personal protection of the head of the Special Prosecution Office is guaranteed through the escort of a basic-level bodyguard and a mid-level bodyguard during the duration of the mandate and for a period not exceeding 3 (three) years after its termination.”.

2. The head of the Special Prosecution Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Guard of the Republic of Albania are charged with the implementation of this decision.

This decision enters into force upon publication in the "Official Gazette".
