Transparency International’s report/ Topalli attacks Rama and Basha

16 Dhjetor 2020, 20:15, English CNA

The leader of the Movement for Change, Jozefina Topalli, reacted through a post on social networks, where she points out the high level of corruption in the country, while referring to the report that the organization Transparency International has published for Albania. According to Topalli, there are many examples of state capture, when individuals and groups use corruption to design a country?s policies, laws and economy solely for their own private interests.

?Corruption is the fundamental factor, that has impoverished the country, plunged the government into scandals, shattered trust in the leadership of the three parties and killed hope. The fight against corruption is key to stopping the decline of the economy, the country?s institutions and democracy.

Corruption is not fought by those who have turned it into a means of enriching themselves and their families. The country needs change, and an uncorrupted leadership. Transparency International ranks Albania as a country at high risk of corruption. At the same time, the report notes that the parliament of the last 4 years has not performed its task of controlling the government.

According to IT ?politicians and their networks are controlling their country?s affairs to profit from corruption with impunity?, and ?there are many examples of state capture when individuals and groups use corruption to shape policies, the laws and the economy of a country only for their private interests?.

Moreover, Transparency International notes that external oversight remains weak and finds that parliament fails to control the work of government regularly. Most defense procurement are single source and ?there are significant corruption risks associated with military operations?- writes Topalli in her post.
