Serie A "excludes" the Italians, the situation also affects the national team

Less than 30% of the starting lineups in the final week of Serie A were Italian players. This situation is also linked to Italy's third consecutive elimination from the World Cup.

One of the main reasons is considered to be the "Bosman" decision of December 15, 1995, which lifted restrictions on foreign players.

Serie A is among the championships with the highest percentage of foreign footballers, although the Premier League and Ligue 1 have similar figures.

The Bundesliga has slightly less, while La Liga has around 60% homegrown players. The problem is also related to the limited space for young Italians in the teams.

Examples like Vergara at Napoli show the difficulties in finding minutes. Meanwhile in England, young players like Foden and Palmer have found space in teams with many foreigners.
