Special match for Argentina coach

Lionel Scaloni will lead Argentina for the 100th time in the match against Cape Verde, reaching another important moment in his career.

In 99 matches played so far, he has recorded 72 wins, 18 draws and only 9 losses. During his tenure, Argentina has won the 2022 World Cup and two editions of the Copa America, in 2021 and 2024.

In this period, Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul are the players with the most appearances as starters. Messi also leads the list of goalscorers of the Scaloni era with 59 goals, while Lautaro Martinez has scored 38.

The coach's contract expires at the end of this year, and president Claudio Tapia has expressed his desire for him to continue in charge. In the meantime, Scaloni aims to lead Argentina to another World Cup success and approach Guillermo Stabile's record of 124 appearances.
