Elimination from the World Cup, Nagelsmann determined for the future

Germany was unexpectedly eliminated from the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16, after being defeated by Paraguay on penalties.

The match ended 1-1 in regular and extra time, while the Paraguayans triumphed 4-3 on penalties.

This was Germany's first penalty shootout elimination in the history of its World Cup participations.

Despite the elimination, coach Julian Nagelsmann stated that he wants to continue in charge of the national team. He stressed that he is ready to continue working if the German Football Association continues to believe in his project.

Nagelsmann has a contract until June 2028. However, after this elimination, it remains to be seen what the federation's decision will be on the coach's future.
