Children return to the theater halls/ The magic of puppets conquers the hearts

The year passes quickly and the theater festival for the little ones returns to the city of Pogradec. The nationwide puppet theater festival "Xinxifilo" has reached its 20th edition, bringing to the stage troupes from Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia.

The Director of the Pogradec Cultural Center, Eritan Kamolli, said that this festival is one of the most beloved for children, so this year the main focus is to get them away from technology and closer to art and culture through performances with clear educational messages.

" The year passes very quickly and here we are again at the 20th edition of the nationwide puppet theater festival "Xinxifilo". This year we have invited the troupe of the Pristina National Theater "Dodona" and from North Macedonia we have the Tetova theater troupe. It is a long-awaited festival, especially by children, so we have tried to coordinate with the participating troupes in such a way that the performances are beautiful and have messages for children. In the history of puppet theater, the themes have more or less been exhausted, this year we have tried to focus on getting children away from technology and bringing them closer to halls, concerts, youth activities. This is the only nationwide festival taking place in Albania ", said Kamolli.

 

Also participating in this edition are well-known troupes such as the “Dodona” theater from Pristina and the Tetovo theater. It is also worth mentioning the Vlora troupe, which comes with a play that focuses on environmental pollution, titled “Pearl of the Sea’s Light”. Director Eduard Ismaili emphasized the importance of raising public awareness, especially children, about preserving the environment and cleaning the seas from plastic.

 

" This year, Vlora comes with a part that has more to do with environmental pollution, entitled "Pearl of the Light of the Sea" and it is a performance that we want to sensitize all people and children to not throw plastic, bags into the sea and keep the environment clean. It is a performance that we have premiered in Vlora and it has been very well attended, while this is the first time we are giving it at this international festival. This is the 20th edition, I may have been in 17-18 other editions as a student at first, now as the director of the Vlora troupe and for me every year has its own beauty but the emotions always remain" , said the director.

 

The festival also has loyal participants. Actor and director Sulejman Kafexhiu, part of every edition since the beginning, shared his emotions, describing “Xinxifilon” as a true art school for puppet theater in Albania. This year he comes with the play “Patat përbatore” with lyrics by Sulejman Fuga.

" I am the oldest here, I am coming for the 20th time to the "Xinxifilo" festival in Pogradec. It is a great pleasure in this city, the municipality does an exceptionally good job, which does not happen where I come from. I learned a lot here, it was a school for me, I met many puppet theater producers, that is, scriptwriters, actors, directors, and it remains the most beautiful activity for me. The play is a part of a simple theater, it is titled "Working Ducks" written by Sulejman Fuga ", said Kafexhiu.

 

Meanwhile, the Skampa Children's Theater from Elbasan brings the play "The Elephant Who Wanted to Fly", by an Austrian author, using techniques combined with tabletop theater and stage play. For director Hysen Mullajonuzi, participating in this festival is a recurring pleasure and proof that puppet theater never loses its power to enchant children.

 

" The Skampa Children's Theater of Elbasan this year will be presented with a play by an Austrian author, entitled "The Elephant Who Wanted to Fly". It is the technique of table theater but intertwined with the play of actors on stage. This is the 5-6th time that we have come to this festival and we are very pleased to participate in this very welcoming festival. I think that puppet theater never dies and children, no matter how addicted to technology they are, always come and are very kind. Children are the most special and beloved spectators ", said Mullajonuzi.

The "Xinxifilo" festival remains the only activity of this kind with nationwide dimensions in Albania and proves forever that art, when pure and sincere, always finds its way to the hearts of children. The festival will end on Saturday, where certificates of participation will be awarded to all the theater troupes that joined this edition of the "Xinxifilo" festival./ CNA
