Bhutan, Ghana and Nigeria charge visitors more for tourist visas, with the Sustainable Tourism Fee for the 'Land of the Thunder Dragon' set at $100 (€87.60) per person per night.
European passports are among the strongest in the world, offering visa-free access to more than 150 destinations.
But not every country opens its doors to EU citizens free of charge and some are much more expensive than others.
Euronews.com has compiled visa and electronic travel authorization fees for more than 40 countries around the globe to see where tourist entry costs the most for EU citizens, and the results may surprise you.
Ghana has the most expensive entry fees, with an e-visa costing $260 (€227.48). However, depending on the length of your stay, a visit to Bhutan could cost you more, as while the entry fee is $40 (€35), you will also be charged a Sustainable Development Fee of $100 (€87.60) per person per night.
Japan has become one of the most expensive tourist visas after news that the fee would increase fivefold from 3,000 yen (16.16 euros) to 15,000 yen (81.28 euros) earlier this month.
