The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has conveyed a New Year's greeting for 2026, accompanied by accusations against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama, describing 2025 as one of the darkest years for Albanian democracy.
In his message to the citizens, Berisha first wished a Happy New Year, emphasizing that 2026 should be a year of hope and unity for Albanians. He then paused to take stock of the year that had passed.
According to Berisha, the year 2025 found Albanians the poorest, with the lowest salaries and pensions in Europe, while, on the other hand, government leaders and senior officials became incredibly rich.
Berisha added that the 2025 elections turned into an electoral farce due to the intervention of organized crime and the use of the state in the function of power.
Berisha emphasized that the opposition has managed to denounce the situation in the international arena, recalling the OSCE/ODIHR resolutions and reports that, according to him, evidence the suppression of pluralism and the degradation of the electoral process in Albania.
At the end of his message, Berisha stated that the year 2026 should be the year of the restoration of Albanian democracy, of the unification of citizens and of the effort to overthrow what he called the narco-state regime.
Berisha's statement
Dear Albanian citizens!
Tonight we await the new year 2026!
So I wish you from the bottom of my heart, wherever you are, in family homes, in bars, on trips, in Albania, in the world, in prisons, in hospitals,
Happy New Year 2026.
The new year for all Albanians, for all people, is a year of hope.
But, as is tradition, we cannot part with this year without taking a look back at it.
The year 2025 was a year that Albanians never deserved.
This year finds those who are the most poorly paid citizens in Europe.
Citizens with the fewest tables, because they buy at the most expensive prices, with the lowest salaries, with the lowest pensions.
But this year also finds them with the richest directors, ministers, and governors in Europe.
Their staggering wealth reaches the wealth of the former dictatorial regimes of Africa 30 years ago.
The year we left behind was a year in which the nation was reduced even more.
Thousands of Albanians passed away more than they came into this life.
The year 2025 was the year of the complete agony of Albanian democracy.
The narco-dictator, using all the means and potential of a state, stole the vote of Albanians and built a majority of crime.
The year we left behind was the year of the biggest fires, floods, which did not only happen in Albania, but for us Albanians they came as if in a country without a state.
In fact, the year 2025 will also be remembered as the year of the discovery of the biggest thefts in the national history of Albanians by Edi Rama, Lubi Balluku, the Rama family, Erjon Veliaj, his directors in the ministry, in the municipality, officials in general.
This was the year in which the mayor of Tirana was imprisoned after 46 protests.
The year in which the names and unimaginable thefts of Lubi Balluku with 300 apartments, two yachts, 15 supermarkets appeared in the prosecutor's records.
Edi Rama's name appeared in all messages as the determiner of tenders and at least 50 million euros disappeared in the Llogara tunnel alone.
AKSHI constitutes the biggest corruption scandal not of Albania, but of Europe.
AKSHI, Edi Rama's private garden, was the epicenter of state crime, unheard of before.
The private garden that depended directly on Edi Rama, was the epicenter of kidnappings, hostage-takings for the theft of hundreds of millions of euros, at the epicenter of which is Edi Rama with his Lindas, Linda of AKSHI, but also Linda of Surrel because of his brother-in-law.
AKSHI is the super scandal in which all the personal, secret data of every Albanian citizen passed into the hands of gangs.
The state cadastre passed.
Passed every data.
And even worse, all the secrets that NATO entrusted to Albania were exported to the drug cartel and to its enemies, the enemies of NATO.
The year 2025 was the year in which the drug cartels directly linked to the Albanian government and Edi Rama took over and became masters of the cocaine market in Europe.
So the cartels became more powerful.
With their active interventions in the May 11 elections, or for their interventions, they were rewarded with permission to build 450 towers, tourist resorts, palaces and villas throughout the territory.
So, the year was, so to speak, the year in which the narco-state consolidated at the greatest speed.
But it was also the year in which the Albanian opposition managed to nail Edi Rama to the international community as a fierce enemy of pluralism.
In 7 resolutions, the suppression of pluralism by the institutions of the narco-state is denounced.
The narco-state is denounced, the theft of Albanians and the transformation of the electoral process into an electoral farce are denounced.
The total control over the media and the terrible deception that they do to citizens, due to mafia control.
All of these are also sanctioned in the OSCE-ODIHR basic document for the elections in Albania.
So friends, all of these constitute a strong basis for every Albanian citizen to take action, therefore, with full confidence, we can say that the year 2026 is the year of great hope, for Albania and Albanians.
It is the year in which they will unite like never before to give a funeral to the criminal organization called Rilindja and headed by Edi Rama.
They will unite like never before to save Albanian democracy, the return of free voting.
To save the Albanian family from a destructive law on gender and family.
To save Albania from its great downfall.
So, this year every Albanian who loves this country begins as a missionary, begins at the height of a great saving mission.
So tonight I want to wish you, wherever you are.
A good year at the height of your hopes and expectations.
Happy!
