Erion Veliaj now has an opportunity to save himself and regain his mandate as mayor, but also to show the strength of the electorate. What he often calls: "I am elected by hundreds of thousands of voters in the capital"

The Democratic Party announced its candidate today, actor and moderator Florjan Binaj. A guy who was actually an active part of civil society, founder of the "Albania Becomes" Movement and later left, after a clash with Adriatik Lapaj.

The Socialist Party has made Ogerta Manastirliu official. Rama, by order in the Assembly, has requested that the Municipal Council dismiss Veliaj. The latter, the Council of Ministers, has convened and then delegated it to President Bajram Begaj, who has also announced the date of the elections.

Now we have two candidates, perhaps we could have others independent from civil society. But it is not known whether they have time to collect signatures, or which entities can support them.

Erion Veliaj has the opportunity to solve the equation with unknowns once and for all. So, for every accusation that has been made against him, that he is 99-ç, that he does not have the support of the socialists, that he was a pest there and they never liked him, that he destroyed the SP of Tirana, that he took it hostage with its directors with corruption and scandals of the Municipality. All those accusations thrown not only by the opposition, but also within the socialists. There are also voices within the SP and the left, who say that it is Edi Rama himself who has imprisoned him.

This is often articulated by those who have often been to Saliu's and then gone to Rama's for a spoonful of spoiled soup, as is the case with Mero Baze.

But Erion Veliaj can blow everyone up, all he has to do is run.

He could run as an independent candidate, he could be supported by his G-99, or some other party, he would easily unseat and show the way to both Ogerta Manastirliu and Florjan Binaj, and if he does this from prison, he would be the new leader of the Socialist Party in Albania or of a new political pole.

The Albanian political scene would not be bipolar, as it has already returned, but it would be tripolar. Erion Veliaj would be an important factor that would overthrow his prime minister from prison and the country would either have to go to early elections or Rama would have to settle accounts tomorrow with Erion Veliaj as mayor in prison.

They might not allow him to take the oath, as Fredi Beleri was also banned, but he would run his race more dignifiedly because he would have votes, he had the electorate, because he was elected and the support was not imaginary and came from the Socialist Party, as many others benefit from.

After taking on the army of socialists and patronageists, and then the electoral machinery of power, together they create an almost invincible electoral front.

Veliaj can break this, he can also break Manastirliu, leave Florjan Binaj with a handful of votes and show not only Rama and Berisha, but also those SPAK prosecutors that he has the votes.

Moreover, he has his own media. His brother's company has the advertising money to distribute. He has plenty of media. It is enough to support Mero Baze with Carlo Bollino and he has the story with the left closed. 

There are other media outlets that could come out on his side. Anonymous portals of fines that endlessly harass Erion Veliaj and a spectacular electoral campaign.

We, as CNA, will also publicly support him if he runs from prison and has the courage to be a racial politician for the first time, without any question.

To appear before the Prime Minister, Rama should appear before Berisha and show him the place of both of them. Even before SPAK and the judiciary, he would have a different authority and would show him that he was an elected official who was being unjustly held in prison./ CNA
