US Vice President JD Vance defended President Donald Trump's stance that Iran should keep some of its ballistic missiles, arguing that it needs them for "self-defense."
Speaking at a White House press conference, Vance was asked to explain Trump's apparent shift on the issue, given that the US has previously presented the destruction of Iran's missile program as a key objective of the war.
"All the president said yesterday was that, of course, countries in the region are not giving up the right to self-defense. Israel is not giving up the right to self-defense if Hezbollah launches missiles or drones against Israel. You can't tell a country, whether it's Israel or Iran, that they're not allowed to have any self-defense," Vance said.
