Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed criticism of several mayors, who, according to him, have left the community and have not been in charge of their duties.

Rama warned that the mayors in question are those from the Tirana-Korça axis. The head of government stressed that this practice must end and added that next time he will also reveal their names, if there are no changes.

"I have a remark about some mayors that I am not mentioning by name this time. They have become a bit of a problem for the community because they do not stay in the community throughout the week. But they come to Tirana even on the days when they should be on duty. This practice must end. It is not all of them, it is some. The example of the Minister of Local Government, some mayors should take into account.

Next time I will mention them by name. They leave the community and the task before the official moment of leave comes, because that is where this matter is discussed and they come to Tirana. This is not justifiable and it is not acceptable. I have your understanding, I believe, to address an hour ago this concern that has come to me repeatedly for a long time from some of your communities.
