Karakaçi: Albania is harmonizing the development of telecommunications

The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, delivered his speech at the event on underground infrastructure in urban areas, focusing on the systematization of overhead cables and improvised structures that damage the appearance of cities, the gradual transition towards underground infrastructure, and the role of municipalities in this process.

During his speech, Karakaçi said that Albania is harmonizing the development of telecommunications networks with European Union standards.

He further announced that, within the framework of Western Balkan investments, a project for the deployment of wireless communication networks in areas where there is no coverage has been received, worth 110 million euros and a grant of 35 million euros from the European Union.

"Albania is harmonizing the development of telecommunications networks with EU standards. All populated areas should be covered by wireless and high-speed networks. The objective is to build a Gigabit society. The Ministry, in implementation of the Prime Minister's vision for a Gigabit society, has drafted the complete legal and sub-legal framework for faster, more secure and more stable networks.

"Within the framework of the Western Balkans investments, the ministry has benefited from a project for the deployment of Broadband networks in areas where there is no coverage and has a value of 110 million euros and a grant of 35 million euros from the EU. We aim to support the construction of electronic communications networks for the provision of digital services in all areas. We will continue to support AKEP in all its activities ," Karakaçi said.  /CNA
